[from the Greenville Advocate, Thurs. Dec. 4, 1873]
MARRIED--At Georgiana, in this county, at the residence of the bride, on the 18th ult., by Rev. Mr. SKIPPER,
*Mr. Thomas SHEPPARD and MRS. *Eliza STOTT.
-------
from listing for Smith Cemetery in Georgiana:
*Thomas SHEPHERD b. 3-1- 1812, d. 11-1-1891
*Eliza L. SHEPHERD b. 4-4-1833, d. 11-1-1891
-------
Thomas and Eliza SHEPHERD were murdered by outlaws HIP & KELLY. I was told by family members that the Shepherd's daughter, Abbie SHEPHERD, married Robert W. BLACK, son of Hugh L. BLACK, but I found an 1890 marriage license which says R. W. BLACK married Abbie E. STOTT. There was no marriage for any Robert BLACK to any Shepherd. The 1880 census shows U.? A. STOTT, age 14, stepdaughter of Thos. Shepherd, whom I believe was Abbie, although her initials should be A. E. , not U. A.. I guess family members thought Abbie was a Shepherd because Thos. Shepherd had been her step-father since she was 7.
-----------
I'm interested in Sheppards because some early Georgiana Shepherds are buried in Ebenezer Cemetery where many of my BLACKs are buried. Also some Shepherds married into more than one of the LEE families I'm researching.
------------
Does anyone know the first names of outlaws Hip and Kelly? Or is it Hipp and Kelley? I want to find them on the 1880 census and find their families if I can.
Thanks.
