McGILBERRY, Mr. James Pit-tman, funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21 at 2:00 pm from Bethel Associate Reform-ed Presbyterian Church, Oak Hill. Mr. McGilberry passed away April 18, 2005 at his home, following a lengthy illness. The Rev. William Earnest, Pastor of the Pine Apple United Methodist Church will con-duct the service. Interment will be in the Bethel Church Cemetery, Oak Hill with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.Mr. McGilberry was born August 23, 1918, to the late Ollie and Velma Criswell McGilberry of the Oak Grove Community near Pine Hill. He was fourth child in a family of eight children. His brothers, Payton and Norris and sisters, Connie, Delone, Luna Gray and Lucille pre-deceased him. On October 5, 1940, his marriage to the late Julia Woodson of Allenton was cele-brated. The couple was married 63 years before her death in April, 2004. Although they never had chil-dren, they were a vital p!
art of the lives of many nieces and nephews.Mr. McGilberry attended Oak Grove School and was graduated from Pine Hill High School. He was a veteran, serving in the European Theatre during World War II. Prior to his military service and following the War years, he was an employee of the Civil Service. During his career Mr. and Mrs. McGilberry lived in a number of states, maintaining a home in Allenton. His work after the War was primarily aircraft maintenance. He was part of the development of the new field of statistical quality control. He retired in 1978 following several years of working at Hayes International in Dothan Alabama as a Quality Con-trol Supervisor. After his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. McGilberry moved to Camden. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Dale Lodge.He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bernice McGilberry Denson of Addi-son and Mrs. Winnie McGilberry Gunter of Montgomery; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Chappell W!

SEALE, Chester Briggs, Sr., 83 years old, a resident of Fort Deposit, AL for 60 years, passed on Saturday, May 21, 2005. Briggs was born August 24, 1921 and was the son of John Chester Seale and Lily Mae Thompson Seale. He joined the Na-tional Guard in 1937 and was mobi-lized in 1940, where he served honorably in the World War II as a Sergeant Forward Artillery Observer in the U.S. Army until December 1945. During his lifetime he was a pulpwooder, Cattleman, merchant and an active member of United Methodist Church for 25 years. He will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Briggs is survived by his lov-ing wife of 62 years Merlyn Gillespie Seale. Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his son Moby Seale. SMITH, Nelle Stinson, Tuscaloosa - age 76 lost her battle with cancer Oct. 3. 2004 at home. Vistation will be Wednesday, October 6, 2004. 1 to 3 pm. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur P. Stinson, and Laura Bell Griffin Stinson; as well as her sister Joyce Stinson Candela. Ms. Smith was retired from the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources where she was a social worker and supervisor of social workers for 30 years. She resided in Mobile, AL from 1954 to 2001 when she moved to Tuscaloosa. She was a long-time active member of vari-ous clubs and organizations, including the Australian Terrier Club of America, and Alabama's Unlimited Daughter's of the Con!

She graduated from the University of Montevallo with a teaching certificate in 1950, and later attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA for a year of graduate school in the area of social work.
