get all availible Chilton census info availible free on the net. If you
would like to volunter you can write me at the address below. This is
not really as difficult as it may seem if everyone would do a few pages

=====================
An 1870 Federal Census of Baker County (now Chilton) was abstracted
from the National Archives Microfilm M593, roll 1.
This work is Copyrighted and also registered in the Library of Congress
as catalog card #85-73165.
Anyone researching their Chilton County ancestry would find it a very
valuable addition to their research tools. It consist of 217 pages in
loose bound soft cover and has a wonderful index to take you right
where you want to go to find the individual(s) and clues of the
children/siblings that normally lived close by each other. So if you are
searching for kin that lived in current Chilton County during the 1870
census this is great tool. If you don't want to go to the library and spend
all the hours digging out the information and would like to have it on hand
for future use as well you can order a copy for $27.50 postage paid from:
Chilton County Historical Society
Post Office Box 644
Clanton, AL 35046
and help support the work of the local group there, which have existed
for many years with legitimate purposes of preserving the history and
genealogy of the County for years to come as opposed to the unknown
intends and purposes of some of the new groups.
In case anyone is wondering, I don't travel to attend any of the group's
meetings, but I do support them with by paying a $9 annual membership
fee. I have no monetary interest in nor was I involved in the authoring
of the book. Fact is I only recently discovered this little publicized
treasure myself, 13 years after it's initial printing. Just trying to help.
