Subject: Julia McGrew

I have the book "THE SOUTHERN McGREW"S", by Everrette L. McGrew, but my
Julia McGrew is not listed in it. I was told that Julia McGrew was full
blooded Choctaw Indian. I can't prove or disprove this. This is all the
information that I have on Julia. She was born in Alabama, unknown County in
1835 or 1836. Married in Greene County, Ala. on March 30. 1858 to James
William "Wilkie"Collins b. Oct. 1836. They lived their married life in
Ararata, Choctaw County, Alabama. Julia died before 1880 and I think burried
in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetary in Ararata, Choctaw County, Alabama.
Their children were;
1. William James "Willie" Collins b. 1860
2. John Alexanderia Collins b. May 14, 1863
3. Mary Collins b. 1866
>From Julia's daughter-in-law ( wife of # 2) Narsissus Alonia Brantley,
Julia's family were quote; "Cousin Clark McGrew's family were, Laura Willie
and Annie". unquote.
1850 census Choctaw, page 202 is;
Clairborne Sheppard Collins b. abt. 1810, in Barnwell South Carolina, and
family, father to #2 above.
page #197 is John P. McGrew ( age 2 ) and William McGrew ( age 30 ) married
to the daughter of Edward Meddar, and was living with him and his family.
1860 census Choctaw County. page 443,
family # 426 is Julia married to James William Collins.
family #420 is John Wimberley ( brother - in - law to James).
family # 421 is James Daniels, with him and his family is, John P. McGrew
(age 13 ), Mary L.McGrew (age 9) and William McGrew (age 7). I can't
connect Julia to these McGrew's.
If I could place Julia in a family with parents and siblings I could connect
back to 1600's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Elsie
