Norma, I think your dates or places are not quite correct. Washington Co. TX was not a county until 1836 and the first Alcorn's to the area did not arrive there until 1821. The father of Josiah could not have been born there in 1750. Most likely, the father of Josiah was born in Virginia or North or South Carolina and his descendants came to Texas. I'm wondering (although none of this is proven) if Josiah was the son of James Alcorn and Catherine (possibly Davis) who were living in North Carolina as early as 1765. James and Catherine are possibly the parents of Josiah and Elijah Alcorn. Elijah came to Texas in 1821, settling on New Year's Creek near present Brenham, Texas. Elijah is listed on the 1802, 1803, 1808 and 1810 tax lists for Franklin County, Georgia. Josiah may have spent some time in Georgia at that time also.
