David, these wills certainly made me do a rethink on who I thought were the children of James and Mary. I thought, but had no proof, that the children of James and Mary were probably (1) Victoria b. about 1722, (2) James b. about 1724, (3) Robert, b. about 1728, (4) Sarah b. about 1730, (5) John b. about 1734, (6) Katherine b. about 1738, (7) Tabitha b. about 1741. From these wills, it appears that James and Mary only had the following children: (A) James, (B) Katherine, (C) Victoria, (D) Sarah, and that the children of (A) James were: (a) Robert, (b) Mary, (c) Jane. Thus, (a) Robert is a grandson of James and Mary, not a son. The problem is that it appears that Robert's assumed date of birth (about 1728) doesn't fit very well with him being a son of (A) James or grandson of James and Mary. Also, there are records of a James and John living in western Virginia in the same time frame as Robert.
Have you, or anyone else, developed the proper line of descendants of James and Mary and how these people (1-7) and (A-D) are related, if they are?
Thanks,
Marion Alcorn
