Danee,
I don't know if this is of any significance to you, but it's worth a try.
My Smith ancestors were from possibly North Carolina(1790) thru Walker
County (1820), Bibb County (1840), Oglethorpe Georgia (1849-ish) and down
into Barbour County (1850-1880), Dale County1890-1910), Houston County (till
1929-ish) Alabama. Around the time of the depression, the Turner Smith
Family moved into the Seminole County, Georgia area (Iron City and
Donalsonville in the country to farm) Many of the farm families of Seminole
County came from the same general area of Alabama and their ancestors
traveled nearly the same route to get here. My father, Russell Smith is now
67 years old and he remembers a Mr. Jeff Miller who lived in and around Iron
City, Georgia when he was a child in the late 1930's. Mr. Jeff was an
elderly fellow who attended church with them at Iron City Church of God.
You might consider posting a query on the Seminole County Rootsweb site.
Also, there's a book about Seminole County history "Cornerstone of Georgia,
Seminole County". If you can find someone with a copy of that book to do a
lookup for you, there's a section of the Miller family that might just have
your ancestry.
Good luck with your digging.
