Dear Barbara
Thanks for your inquiry. This book contains information about the Lonnie Dee
Martin family, son of Sumpter Harmon Haskel Martin and Florilla Powell
McCulluch Martin, in Edgefield, S.C.
My Lonnie D. came to Dale County in 1911; he married Lucy Dale Barefield and
they had three children, one of which was my father, J.D. Martin. After Lucy
died, Lonnie D. married Lucy's cousin Flossie Barefield and they reard a
large family in Bertha, a small community in the northeast corner of Dale
County. All the rest of Harmon's family stayed in S. C. We have kept in
contact with them through the years. But they knew nothing about their
ancestors.
Sorry, my Martins are probably no relations to yours . Maybe you can help me
find some connection through other relatives of Harmon Martin. I have been
told that he had a brother or cousin named Clark Martin, b.9Apr 1810, who
married Elizabeth Berry in Saluda County, SC.
Thanks again,
M.Snell
