Here is what I know about the 15th Al. Inf. June through September 1862 was
a particularly brutal period of time for the 15th Al. Many books have been
written about the battles that took place that summer and fall.

During the month of August alone. Here they are in order:
Cedar Mountain, Va.9 August 1862
Hazel River, Va. 23 August 1862
Manassas Junction, Va. 27 August 1862
Manassas Plains, Va. 28-30 August 1862

These are the other battles fought that summer and fall:
Cross Keys, Va. 18 June 1862
Cold Harbor, Va. 27 June 1862
Malvern Hill, Va. 02 July 1862
Chantilly, Va. 01 Sept. 1862
Harpers Ferry, Va. 13 Sept. 1862
Sheperds Town, Va. 18 Sept. 1862

Homer, my 2x great granduncle, Cornelius Williams, was in Co. H of 15th AL
Inf. Reg't. when he died of disease in VA in August 1862. I haven't found a
grave for him back in SE Alabama, so I suspect he's still up there. Can you
or anyone else tell me where his unit would have been located in VA at the
time of his death? I'd sure like to find him...

750,000 men from the South faced 2 million men from the North . 2 million
men could not defeat 750,000 Southern troops what did defeat them was
disease, hunger, lack of money and supplies.
