Maggie,
He is listed at Natl as Pvt D.F. Carol,
Co D, 5th Ala Inf; at State as D.L.
Carroll and the Pike list as D.L. Carol;
a note on the Pike list: k. at the Battle
of Chancellorsville, Va in 1863; that
battle was fought Dec 13, 1863; his
file card does not mention his being
killed but there is a note that he was
buried in Arlington Natl Cemetery,
which I seriously doubt; only thing
consistent is that he served as a pvt
in Co D of the 5th Ala and was
killed at Chancellorsville; just for
information: Confederate losess,
5,300; Union, 12,7000 killed or
wounded;

Don't recall how many but he was not
the only son John and Patsy lost to the
war.

Deo Vindice,

Homer T.
