Mary -This is my group! Check out http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/wxgrrl and http://hstrial-jdean2.homestead.com/genealogy.html for what info I do have on these folks. It appears that the spelling of the name evolved from Carrell to Carroll during the first generation to be born and raised in Dale County, possibly to conform to phonetic spelling I know what a "southern" accent can do to a name! Phonetic spelling of any name is the bane of researchers, resulting in various spellings of that name. For example, depending on the source, the last name has been spelled Carel, Carrel, Carrell, Carroll, and Cerrel. Jenny

through some old research papers and found where we may have a connection to
the Carrells
A researcher by the name of Don Tucker , in 2000, sent me some info that
states Rhoda Stephenson Carrell settled in Dale Co with her children, sons
David, Rueben, & James Carrell. She also had daughters Sarah Stephens &
Rebecca Johnson.
Her son John Carrell settled in Pike Co.
He also says Rhoda Stephenson Carrell had a brother, David Stephenson b.
1772/74 d. 1851.
It looks like Rhoda's husband was James Carrell?
I have just "re-found" this so am still in the dark. I don't know if Mr Don
is on the ALDALE list or not, but if you are Mr Don, would you please
re-contact me.
Also would appreciate help from you Carrell folks on this.
Mary
