Would someone please take the time to answer the following question?

Problem;
Our ancestors were in Henry County, 9th Pct1870 census
in
Pike County, Hallsville, Western Division 1860 census

(unable to be found 1850 census, so far).

Questions;
Did they move before the 1870 census, or did the county lines move???
Also, I don't find "Hallsville" on any of my maps. Is it now a defunct place?

Thank you for any help. The movement of some of these county lines are really confusing.
