Welcome Clark! How are you?

It's so nice to see a young person taking a definite interest in their
ancestry. I'm older than you by about 30 years and was just saying to
someone today that I wished I'd gotten into genealogy when I was a teenager
and my great aunts & uncles & my Ggrandmother were still living & could
tell me all the things I wonder about now. It surprises me that I didn't
because I had such an interest in history.

I'm not doing any research on the surnames you mentioned, but I did want to
take the opportunity to get in touch & wish you good luck in your research.
It will be a life-long passion. Like eating peanuts, once you start, you
just can't seem to stop.

You said you were trying to be as accurate as possible. That's the key.
Without documentation & sources, it's just another pretty fairy tail.
Besides, when you're researching more than one surname like I am (both mine
& my husband's families) and have done it for a number of years, it's vital
to know who you got what information from because your brain certainly
can't keep it all straight. Census records, cemetery listings, marriage
licenses, wills, probates, military records, even newspaper articles - all
these things will give you a solid foundation for your family history.

Have you written to the Natl Archives for William's military records yet?

Good luck!

Lisa

> Hello everybody,

> I am new to this list. My name is Clark Solomon and I am 15 years old
and from Tuscaloosa. My family line goes directly to John Solomon of Dale
County (1797-1879). I am descended through his son, William Lazarus (Sr.),
CSA.
> If there is anybody on this list I have never talked to who are doing
research on the Solomon, Reynolds, Sanders, or McLeod families, please
contact me! I would love to hear from you and compare notes. I am in the
process of compiling a book on the descendants of John Solomon and to make
it as accurate as possible, I am trying to contact all who might have
information. Thank you very much for your time! Sincerely,
