Subject: Monk families in Dale County.

I have recently started lookin into the MONK spousal family connected
with the BRANNON family primarily because Lilly May MONK WHITLOCK
sent me a fair amount of recent information and I am trying to get
past her GrandFather John MONK (1873 - ??). He is shown on the 1900
Newton, Dale, Al census, born 1873, 26yo, married for 9 years and
born in Alabama. Wife is shown as Sarah M. born 1868 in Alabama
and 32yo. on the 1910/20/30 censuses they are listed in Pinckard,
Dale, Al with the 1930 showing a slight age increase from the
progression (about six years older than would have been.)
Topping this all is I also ran into another MONK family out of
Georgia into Henry Co then to Skipperville, Dale, Al when checking
into my GALLOWAY family (a direct uncle). Allen MONK (1810 - <1900)
came into Dale Co prior to 1850 with three of his sons, Marion,
Angus, & Orvell marrying and settling in the Skipperville area. I
can find no reference to a son Francis.
I am attempting to look into whether these families are connected
directly and realize about most of the records being destroyed in
various fires. What I am primarily looking for is something from
1884 to 1900 that would give John MONK's father and if he is possibly
connected with Allen MONK or possibly his brother, Malon MONK.
Also, is there anyone in the area that is researching either of these
two families? I have located a fair amount of listing on the Allen
MONK side and I have the previously mention information from Lilly May.
Tks and che-ers
