Old Aunt Sarah, a very old colored woman, died at the poor house last
Sunday. She was in her 93rd year.

We regret to learn of the death of Ray, the little son of Mr. Nin Faulk, of
Columbia. He was a bright child and the pride of a kind father and loving
mother. To them we extend our sympathies.

We regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Dean, widow of the late James Dean,
died at her home near Barnes X Roads, Sunday last. Mrs. Dean was a
Christian lady, and lived to a ripe old age being in her 90th year when she
died.

A Vacancy

A vacancy in Sunday School class No. 5, occasioned by the death of little
Jimmie Dowling, which sad event occurred May 23, 1888. After several days
of intense suffering, the dread monster, Death, swept away from our midst
one of our class. But, alas! Jimmie, thou art gone to the grave, taken from
our midst and buried out of sight. Yet, in our memory thou art endeared as
a tender, sweet-scented flower to live to be watered by the tears of
remembrance. One by one, we will follow Jimmie until our class No. 5 will
number 13 again on the shores of everlasting bliss, when we will join with
you in the chorus –

“Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast.”

While it is our loss, and we so much regret it, yet, believing as we do,
Jimmie, it is thine own eternal gain. The Lord is our Shepherd; we shall
not want, and as the Lord loves the young, pure and good, we humbly bow, as
Jimmie is the choice of our class. They will be done on earth as it is in
heaven.

To the bereaved parents, brother, and sisters, we extend our sympathy.
