Dear Ms. West,
My ancestress Susannah (Morris) Elmore m. secondly @1775
in Amelia cty., VA James Meadors "who d. testate....[by]
Oct. 30, 1804....Laurens Dist., SC" (Ref. Doliante,
Sharon J., MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA COLONIALS, GENEALOGIES
OF SOME COLONIAL FAMILIES. 1991,1998. Baltimore.
Genealogical Publishing Co.)
They had sons Reuben (d.1829, testate, Laurens, SC), Jason
(d.bef 07 Mar 1825, Laurens, see Laurens probate Rec'ds.
Box 56, Pkg. 5), and John. Reuben and Jason are proven to
have had sons and grandsons named James. John may have also,
but the documentation is sketchy. Some of Jason's children
are known to have come to Chambers cty., AL. His grandson
John Calhoun Meadors (son of Warner Williams Meadors and
Nancy Fergurson) has an entry in HISTORY OF ALABAMA &
DICTIONARY OF ALABAMA BIOGRAPHY (Owen, Thomas McAdory &
Marie Bankhead Owen. 4vol. S.J.Clarke. Chicago. 1921).
