Carol,
My sister and I visited both the Dallas Co courthouse and the archives in
Montgomery and found many probate records on microfilm at the archives we did
not find in Dallas Co. There are indexes to the information at the
courthouse in the old index books. They were in the process of filing
probate records in file folders, but we could not find the ones we were
looking for. They may have been taken in earlier years. We found one of the
deed records we were wanting had been torn from the deed book! Thankfully,
it had been microfilmed first and was at the archives. Check out the estate
records in the archives. We established parenthood of several family members
through estate distribution records. There are assistants in the archives to
show you how to locate the records. They are located in the inner research
room beyond the large first room. You are not allowed to take notebooks,
etc. inside, but they have lockers to store bags, etc. Be sure you have
pockets to keep your change in, etc.

Happy hunting and good luck.
