I believe all this property is located in Autauga County--I have Dallas,
Wilcox, and Marengo but they don't go as high to pinpoint the property.
The first one would be: Section 1, E½SW, Township 18 North, Range 2
West. I can check with mybrother in a couple of weeks to see if he has
Autauga County.

Can someone interpret this Assignee information for me, please.

"Patentee names are shown in various areas of the patent. In instances
where the patentee was not the original purchaser of the land, the
patent will state the purchaser as the Assignee, heirs, and devisees."

My ancestor, James C. Sharp, was the patentee on several land
documents. Was he buying or selling? I am not familiar with the names
of the assignees. According to the census, I believe he lived in
Dallas County, AL in 1840, but he and his son, James R. Sharp were in
Autuaga County by the 1870 census. I'm not sure in which county they
resided in the between time as there are several variations of the
name. Is there a map site where I could determine exactly where this
land lies? Any suggestions on how to pursue this information would be
