MRS. ALECK ROWELL SR., DIED

On November 3, 1911, death took Mrs. Aleck Rowell Sr. She died about 10 p.m.
after a week of suffering. Mrs. Rowell was formerly Miss Maggie E. Brannon,
born in 1855 in Henry County, GA. She was married in 1884. She joined the
M.E. Church, South at the age of 15; she exemplified in her life the christian
virtues and was loved by all. Her death was sadly sweet. Just as the touch of
death claimed her a triumphant smile wreathed her face, proclaiming both the
human and the divine. When the hand of a sister of the order of the Eastern
Star pinned the bade on the breast that was cold in death; when the husband
who was sick unto death himself pulled himself up and looked for the last time
into the casket on the face of that dead wife, and to hear the agony of the
sigh in the last farewell is enough to remind us that it is not all of life to
live.
