Distinguished Service Cross Citation
George R. Evans, private. Company F, 322d Infantry. For extraordinary heroism
in action near Grimaucourt, France, November 10, 1918. He repeatedly carried
messages through very heavy artillery and machine-gun fire and at one time
successfully carried a wounded comrade through an intense barrage to a first-aid
station. Residence at enlistment: R. F. D. No. 1, La Pine, Ala.
