<< I am forwarding this message to the list because many of us with Henry
County roots also have roots to Barbour County. I've been to the
Barbour County courthouse and heard rumors of the documents in the
basement. I hope these documents come out into the light of day and are
preserved before they're lost.....

You are right there is a VAULT that is temperature controlled in the
basement. I have just came from Barbour and know for a fact that Judge Anne
Adams is working very hard on getting all the records microfilmed. She has a
really good group of volunteers that are working nonstop to get all the files
prepared for microfilming.
Judge Adams received permission from the County Commissioners to set up a
fund for the preservation of the records and donations are needed. Just go
to the Barbour County web site and all the information is listed on the Home
Page.

I would like to take to ask all that if you live in the area donate some of
your time to help get the job done. Please send your donations, this is our
chance to preserve OUR FAMILIES history. Judge Adams is really dedicated to
preserving all the records. Let's show her we do care and do everything we
can to help her.
