Listers
I need more Input for Henry County Cemeteries.
Go to Henry County Alabama Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~alhenry
then Cemeteries and Church Histories.
Review List of Cemeteries and See what you can add. A single person
is an addition of our store of knowledge.

Want to help with the Henry County Tombstone Transcription Project
but not sure how? Here are 10 ways:
1) Walk and record (transcribe) a cemetery that isn't
available on-line yet.
2) Update a cemetery listing that is on-line, but that
was done many years ago. (There are LOTS of these to choose from!)
3) Become a look-up volunteer for a cemetery near your home.
Don't want to do it alone?
4) Organize a scout troop, your card club, or other group organization
to transcribe a cemetery as a group project. Or make a family event
of it--it's a great way to teach your children an important history
lesson.
Not able to walk an entire cemetery?
5) Contact the local mortuary and ask for permission to record the
information from their records.
6) Contact your church office and ask for permission to record
the information from their burial books.
7) Contact your county clerk's office to ask if they have plat maps
from which you can record the information for unmarked graves.
(It they don't have the plat maps, they may be able to tell
you who does--churches would have them for church cemeteries;
mortuaries often have these also.)
Want to help but not able to make a big commitment?
8) Submit partial lists of cemeteries you have walked for
your own family gravestone information.
9) Spread the word about the Tombstone Transcription Project
to your friends and neighbors...one volunteer can help a
LOT of researchers!!
Do you have an active county genealogical society?
10) Give them a call and see if you can help them with any
on-going projects. Genealogical societies do tremendous
work in preserving the history of our counties and deserve our
support.
