It is absolutely amazing that you have all that information. I have had a terrible time trying to find old records and was told that most of the records that I wanted were destroyed in a fire in the mid 1910s. I only recognized four or five names that you mentioned but the lineage seems accurate. The homes you speak of in Shorterville (Barnes's and Cobia's) are sort of how this project began. Since I was a young child we have visited relatives in the FL panhandle and the Dothan area staying at the former home of Maud and Martin Luther Barnes. My maternal grandmother (still living) was their daughter and was born and raised in that house. It is maintained but a second cousin who owns the surrounding land for farming and raising cattle. I have also visited the former Cobia house which now sits in ruins within a cow pasture. Visiting the old homes and hearing the stories of events that took place in them made me want to know more about my ancestors. A combination of th!
at and my curiosity to know medical histories (I am a nurse) has driven this little hobby of mine to an almost obsession at times. I would love to hear more of what you know. My grandmother is recovering from surgery and as of last week she is the only surviving child of ML and Maudie Barnes. I have only spoken with her briefly about my project. If there is anything you would like to know, I will try to be of assistance although your knowledge seems to greatly surpass mine. Thanks for your reply.
