Le,
My children descend from John Vann and his son, Hinton Vann, who came to
Dale County in the 1830s from NC. I think I've read that John Vann and his
sons, Hinton, Stephen, Leonard and John Jr. were in Dale County in 1838.
Hinton and Agatha Vann's son, Joshua Joseph Vann, and his wife Mary Ann
Hutto Vann were the parents of Greeley, Peeler, and Hinton Vann and
Franklin Joseph Vann, b. 1897.
The father of Tom Solomon, the train artist, told me many years ago that
our Josh Vann and his family once lived next door to his family (Solomons)
in Headland. That would have been in the late 1800s, I think.
Agatha Vann is buried in the cemetery at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist
Church. I think it's near Newville. I don't know where Hinton is buried. I
think he died around 1860. I don't have my files with me. This info I'm
giving you is from my noggin.
If you see a connection, please let me know.................Betty McKay
Vann
p.s. I have Buckhalt cousins who descend from Kennedys in Midland City. I
remember the name Lena Turnipseed of Midland City, who was part of that
family. Would these Kennedys be of the same family as your Martha?
