I am seeking information on Abner and Samuel Hendrix in 1850 era
Lauderdale County. Samuel may have been related to David
Hendrix/Hendricks, who was my ancestor, and supposedly came from Jackson
County, married in Madison County and moved to Wisconsin about 1851. A
Samuel Hendrix appears in the 1855 Wisconsin state census along with
David, but supposedly "returned" to Alabama. Abner may have been
Samuel's father. There are other Hendrix listed in the AIS census index
for 1850. These include Elizabeth, James, Sterling and William. All
appear to have left Lauderdale county by 1860. I have nothing to
indicate they are of the same family, but suspect they may have been.
I'll be glad to exchange whatever information I have.
I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who could tell me why
and how people from North Carolina moved to eastern Tennessee and on to
northern Alabama in the 1800-1820 era. Also, why they might have left
for "other parts" in the 1850-1860 era.
