Thank you so much for your interest. I am excited to know that I am not alone. Catherine Gary was born in 1807 in S. Carolina and shows up in Lowndes County in 1820 giving birth to a daughter Loudosky Francis. She later had a son Burgess and 2 daughters. Loudosky then married one William Holmes and they had 4 boys and 1 daughter: Thomas, Joseph, William, Frank and Rebecca. Neither the husband of Catherine nor Wm. Holmes ever shows up on a census but these women have children after they leave. Catherine and her 2 daughters, Cornelia and Sarah, along with grndsons Frank and William all belonged to Mt. Gilead. There is a record of them there. There is nothing to tell me what happened to Thomas and Joseph nor is there a death registered to any of them. There is a will from Catherine but that's all I have. William is my gr grandfather. He cohabitated with a slave woman ,Sarah, and had several children. One of them, Othana, was my grandmother. I hope this will shed so!
