Thanks - I'll make a note of that one. I'm trying to see if there is any
connection with our LESLIE family who were in Macon Co. in early 1800's and
LASSITERs in Cumberland Co., NC. There are LASSITERs on the early census records
in Cumberland District where our John LESLIE was born in 1816. He was in Macon
Co., AL by at least the early 1840's. Before the Civil War, he "swapped" his
home with a LASSITER in Union Springs. His home was in town and Lassiter had
a farm on the edge of Union Springs, the present site of Oak Hill Cemetery.
The home in town was bought by a Mr. Jabe Bell eventually who "improved" it
according to the Recollections of Union Springs book. Does your Sarah LASSITER
fit into any of this?
