Evelyn:
Thanks so very much for your information. I all most didn't make a copy of
this record because the name Polly Oliver didn't mean anything to me at the
time - but, then I saw the name of Martin James, who I knew married my Mary
Jones - but, didn't but two and two together until I got home and started
transcribing the dark copy that I had to work with. Now, I think that I'd
better go back and re-read. I've probably missed something.
I know that Dionysius Oliver the Rev. War Privateer was very actively buying
and selling land all over Monroe and Wilcox Co - there are land deeds that
show this. There was also a number of Tate's - Sarah Tate being one of
them. I know that she gave the land for Tate's Chapel in Wilcox Co. There
was also a Charles Tate in the area. Were they connected in any way.
Charles Tait left a Will where he named a Miss Twreat and leaves her money
and some books and he refers to his "great affection" for her. He doesn't
name his wife and leaves her with very little - it was very coldly put.
Back to the question- do you know what family Polly Oliver (I'm assuming
Oliver is her maiden name?) came from.
Thanks again - Ruth in Portland, OR
