Thanks for your reply. From my research, it is possible that William Terry's father was George Shanks. I believe that George's father was William Shanks who emigrated from Ireland in 1772 and obtained land in SC. William sailed from Belfast. William and George are listed in the 1790 and 1800 SC census. In 1800 they were living next to each other.

I do have records from SC regarding George. In one document his wife is listed as Tempy; however, I do not know if she is William T.'s mother.

I have done extensive research on William and his siblings, James C., Nancy, and Asberry H. I would like to exchange information with you .
