Sheila -
Of the known siblings of Amy Browning (and likely this is all of them),
Samuel b1794 m1831 Phereby Horn, Daniel b e1807 m1836 Diana White, James b e1815
m1832 Mary Sellers and m e1853 Sarah Jane Fuller , Elizabeth b? m1838 Henry
W. Howard, Mary b? m1840 Archibald A. Lewis. Amy b 1817 m1835 William S.
Green. Their parents were John W. Browning b? and Elizabeth b e1776NC.
This family was in Pintlala, Montgomery Co. (15 miles south of Montgomery
City) as early as 1825. After John died in 1830, the family continued there
abouts until after 1840 when all moved to Watoola, Russell Co. (south of Opelika).
Thereafter, some scattered back towards Pike and adjacent counties.
There were some John, William, and Daniel Browning families in 1820s in the
Haynesville vicinity of Lowndes Co. I am unable to connect these to above John
& Elizabeth. The Lowndes Brownings are well documented by Carolyn Golowka,
list mom (?) of Lowndes. Some of them died there and others moved on to AR.
Also, a William Browning b e1822 on the 1850 census in Russell Co. My gggf
Samuel had a son William Riley Browning b1834. There is William Browning in 1850
Pike but I haven't researched him yet.
There were some others.
I might be able to expound on some of the above, if any rings a bell.
Give me another clue.
Adrian
