Does anyone remember the Harvey Dennis, Sr Family who lived in Columbus,
Georgia? His son Harvey Dennis , Jr. lived in Phenix City, Alabama. There was a
daughter name Barbara Dennis.

Did anyone know Harvey Dennis, Sr's brother, that was drowned down on the
River while fishing with friends? There was about four or five of them and , he
wanted to change boats and when he tried to cross he fell. He couldn't swim and
he drowned.

My dad was one of the four or five men. Harvey Dennis, Sr. was a friend and
neighbor of my dad's. This happen in the late forties or early fifties, maybe
earlier..

I was so young when it happen , it seems like a dream to me, when daddy came
home that night and laid his head on the kitchen table and cried. The Dennis
brother was younger than the rest. I remember my family and the Dennis
family talking about the accident. But all I can remember was my dad's crying and
grieving for the young man. My dad dove in after him and pulled him up to the
top of the water. Dad thought they were home free, but the young boy went back
under and an undercurrent pulled him downward. Dad went back and the young
man and reached out for the young man and they touched hands. The young man
reached up and tighten his hand around dad's hand, into a death grip. the
undercurrent was pulling on the young man ,dad's grip broke and the young man was
gone. Dad grieved because he was so close but couldn't bring him in..A few
months my dad had a massive heart attack.

Mr. Harvey Dennis,Sr and my dad grieved for the longest. Dad was a good
swimmer
living around the Mobile Bay in Mobile Alabama. The other men knew if anyone
could have bought the younger Dennis man in, it would have been my dad. My
dad carried this guilt of not saving him.

Our minister Rev. John Park Winkler of Central Christian Church , Columbus ,
talked to dad for years, but it was something dad couldn't let go of. Dad had
seven heart attacks after the firs big one (Myocardial Infraction)

I was wondering if any of the Dennis family was still living in the area
that were related to the Dennis family.
