All that a prosecutor can do is prosecute, after the crime
has been committed. A judge can issue a restraining
order, and if the order is violated, then prosecution can
proceed. But even this cannot stop a determined stalker.
Stalkers often are not deterred even by the threat of jail.
And jail time for stalking crimes eventually ends, and
the stalker resumes his obsession.

Jess posted a very specific warning about a particular
stalker who happens to be currently active in the
newsgroups, that he is aware of. Jess did not
slander anybody's identity, and is not guilty of anything,
he merely gave a warning.

Living individuals who are in hiding for their own safety
deserve to have their privacy respected.
