I believe the "ufilm" that is being refered to is microfilm. Normally the
"u" has a leading and trailing tail when used in this manner, but I
understood it nonetheless... I have seen this widely used in
electronics..(for example, microfarad is "uf").
>From what I see, the rest of the message indicates nothing more than
dissatisfaction with reference indexes, thereby making it more difficult to
find the person(s) being searched for. Then without an appropriate source
(identifed in an index), it is difficult to find the microfilm needed to
continue research.
As for "myself", I have found FamilySearch to be a useful tool in finding
ancestors, specifically in Europe. I do not however, rely on the data
within, but use it to search the source document (ie; census) and obtain my
data from that. I have found a lot of the names I am searching for this
way, but I also no that, there is mistakes in most every document and
resource, the results most likely won't jump up and grab you, and it takes
time (lots of it), patience, and a lot of detective work. This however, for
me is what makes the find much more sweet..... the thrill of the hunt.
