A scheme like this should work OK for large-format B&W negatives (like 120
film or larger). For 35mm the available resolution of flat bed scanners
doesn't yield a scan capable of much enlargement before the pixellation
become annoying - it's similar to what you get with a slide attachment.
Color negatives require quite a bit of work to remove the overall orange
cast and correct the colors.
