More or less. WFT CDs are the World Family Tree CDs by Broderbund (or
whatever they are now)

I thought it was universally understood that no data was to be
considered accurate unless it was backed up by proof documents?

Regardless of accuracy, these CDs provide clues, so that users can
locate (or try their best to locate) proof documents.
