Hi All,
Might someone have any suggestions as to where to find an individual's
parents' names?
This man, John Forbes JACKSON, was born in New York, 1839, died 1884.
None of the papers we have found (census, marriage cert, death cert,
military records, pension papers, property records) have given parents'
names or a precise place of birth. He left no will. No birth record has yet
been found. His place of birth is always listed as New York, but we're
unsure if this refers to NY City or just NY State in general.
He states that his parents were born in New York as well. All his children
were born in Brooklyn.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to other places we might look, or at
least ways to narrow down the search? John Jackson is a pretty common name,
alas :).
