In general you can't get passenger records from the originating port. You can
only get them from the port of arrival IF the lists were archived.

In this case, La Lorraine came from Havre (not Harve as stated in the
original message below) with over 800 passengers. It arrived at Ellis Island
September 08, 1906 and IS on the Ellis Island database online.

Here's an example of one passenger from this ship

NAME Sarantopoulos, ...
ETHNIC ORIGIN Greece, Greek
FROM Sparta
DATE OF ARRIVAL September 08, 1906
AGE 17y
GENDER M
MARITAL STATUS S
SHIP La Lorraine
FROM Le Havre, Seine-Inferior, France

I found it by searching the online database for surnames starting with "S",
date of arrival 1906 and ship name LA LORRAINE

So Michelle can search online and find who she needs. If that fails, why not
send for the filmed list? See
http://OliveTreeGenealogy.com/ships/filmnos_ny.shtml for a list of film
numbers for NARA and FHC
