You and I, being Canadians learned of relationships in this manner, which
comes from the British way of determining cousinship. The French may also
use the same, for I know French Canadians who do. This NG has a great many
USians posting/reading it and they apparently don't use the same method.
From previous postings on this question [from what I understand] they do not
use the "removed" but only 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. Personally, I find the
USian method rather confusing and in the end have no idea of who is actually
in the exact same generation, without seeing a written family tree. I'm my
2C's mother's 1C1R.

[Also hate seeing "my ggggggggrandfather" Easier to write and for others to
understand is - 6 x g-grandfather or even g-grandfather x 6]
