Oops! In checking out which census to which I was referring, I
discovered it was NOT a census, but Ancestry's
alternative to the 1890 Census. The database is from New Orleans,
Louisiana Directories of 1890 - 1891.
But the fact remains that they showed "street Charles aveune," "street
Mary," etc. Got a note from Tara, and Allen has posted as well, that
the problem was likely an automated program that converted all "St."s
to "street."
Probably correct!
