The FES is the index/biography of Church of Scotland ministers from
the Reformation to the present. The Free Church equivalent is IIRC
"Annals of the Free Church" and there is a further publication
covering those who were in the components of the Congregational
Church; copies of both are in the Society of Genealogists' library and
in various libraries around Scotland..
Ministers who transferred to/from other churches are still listed in
the FES for the period that they were in the Church of Scotland. There
is a separate section within the FES which covers service other than
in parishes in Scotland (e.g. missionaries and IIRC some English and
Irish posts).
