Hi,
I have several letters written from from Wilcox Co. in 1848-1849. They were
from and to my Abel E. EVANS family members. I want to ask more about them
and others later, but want to share some of the names mentioned in the
letters. These are usually only *mentioned* -- and usually in regard to a
wedding, illnesses and death, attendance at Dallas Female Academy and
occasionally litigation. Apparently all were then residents of Wilcox Co. --
Camden, Prairie Bluff. The spellings (especially in letters of Thomas J.
EVANS) are rather inventive.

Marriages mentioned:
Frank Dulany & Miss Angelina Higginbothum
Dr. Matherson and Miss Sambrina (?) Matthews
Dan (or Dave) Blackmon and Miss McIver
Joe Cook & Rebecca White

Illness and deaths
Mr. Bishop (preached funeral)
Blackmon
Lin Pritchett
Jack Pritchett
Dr. Curtis
Hiram McDowell
Samuel McDowell
Frank Bick
Louisa Norwood Gordon
Mr. Cannon
Burford
Guillet(s)
Sam Bones
Isaac Standly
Orvirson
Charles Sparks

Others
Col. Sellers
Old Atwood
Jim Battle
Miss McDowell
Adelia Rodgers
Isabela McCall
Martha Robins
Capt. Baldwin
Tom Beck
Bethea
Louisa Cannon
Rebecca Fleming
Thomas Jones (supt. of neighborhood school)
Mr. Matthews

If these families are of interest, and you want the little speck of
information, let me know. Also have three letters (1848-49) from Sally
Teresa HARRIS of Gosport, Clarke Co, AL, if you have those connections.

I would be greatly interested on any information on the following families
of mine who lived in Wilcox Co. -- mostly in 1830s-1850s: EVANS, SCOTT,
RATCLIFF(E).

Thanks,
Larrie Spier Curry
