I am trying to find out as much about my family as I can. They lived in
Wilcox county until around the 30's in Snow Hill Alabama. So far I found
out they were from a community call Pleasant Hill or Furman. Thanks to
your records I was able to get some information but I want to know more.
Such as:
1. The plantation that most of the former slave lived on in that area.
2. If native americans also inhabitated that area. My Great grand mother,
Rosetta Lewis Gulley talked about her father, John Savage and described him
as being tall, long black hair and lighter skinned. It could be that she
was of Mexican descent as well.
3. Rosetta brother was named "Bully" and was said to have fought in a
Mexico-American battle. His nickname was "Toad" which means to me he must
have been short.
