Subject: [ALWILCOX-L] LOVETTS & Counties in South Alabama
Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2000 22:46:25 -0400
Hello, Mr. Smothers and others,
I am researching Stephen Isaac LOVETT, my great grandfather, and his family,
born in Alabama in 1843, according to the Wilcox County census of 1880, in
which he appeared in Lower Peachtree. Then I received a copy of my
grandfather, William Pearce Lovett's social security application, stating
that he was born in 1886, in Clarke County. Now I found a reference to
Stephen LOVETT at the LDS Family History Center for a census in Butler
County in 1845 [for which I have requested information].
I am confused! Did they move around all the time? Or do the county lines
shift [I thought that was at a different time]? Or did the eumeration occur
from different counties? Lower Peachtree is close to at least four
counties.
Thank you for the clarification.
