Hi Carol,
Since posting I have learned that James never married and probably lived with one of his brothers in Wilcox (Furman/Snow Hill) about 1870. You are right--there weren't that many Watsons in that area at that time. There appears to probably be 2 lines, this one, and the "Arthur Watson" line. I have not run across your Watson, but will keep an eye out. Thanks for the reply!
