Henry Groom was the son of Lucinda Groom from Pine Apple -- Old Texas,
Alabama. He was either born out of wedlock or his father was another
Groom. After he was born his mother married Henry Brantley but there is
no known record of Henry Groom ever using his step-fathers name. A
half-brother, William Brantley, is buried in Old Texas.

Henry served in the War Between The States at Ships Island.
Afterwards, he married Susan Baughman, daughter of. Joseph Baughman
and Elizabeth Bunn Baughman; in Monroe Co., on June 28, 1868. Security
was posted by John A. Simmons and the Service was by W. D. Garrett, a
Notary Public.

They relocated to Polk/San Jacinto Co., Texas.
