NCCIA Recognition Committee Votes to Appeal Decision!

On Friday, August 31, 2001 the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs
Recognition Committee met via Conference call and voted 4-1 to recommend to
the full Commission that they appeal the recent decision against them
recognizing the Occaneechi as a State Recognized Indian Tribe in the North
Carolina Court of Appeals.

The full Commission will meet tomorrow to consider their recommendation.
