Hello, I am new to the list and this my first time posting a message. I was
hoping someone here might be able to help me. I am working on the genealogy
of my family and am having some difficulty. I know that I have Native
Americans on various sides of my family but have no idea where they came
from for sure. My grandmothers Middle name was Owana. I was told that was
Cherokee for little flower. I have been told by some relatives that my
family is Cherokee, others say Siminole, Some say Chickasaw. I thought
perhaps if I could place which language the name Owana came from, I might
have a better idea where to search for my roots. I was told that my
grandmothers people came from somewhere along the TomBigBe river. I know
that later allot of my family settled in the Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana
areas. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that might help? Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Melina
