Hello, John; I just returned from holiday and found your query regarding
my posting of Sept. 18, 1998. No, I have not had a response of any kind.
Since the list was quite new at the time, I figured not many people had
seen it and was planning to post another after the holidays.

I have enjoyed reading the items posted to the list and learned much
about the day to day life of our "Hessian" ancestors. But, I am
surprised that there isn't more mentioned of the Brunswickers at
Bennington and Saratoga. Is it possible that because these engagements
were early in the war that proper records of prisoners and casualties
were not kept? Or, maybe the loss of officers such as Col. Baum at
Bennington led to disorder and the lack of records. I have yet to find
any listing of Dragoons in these conflicts. Are there any duty rosters
in Canada for these troops when they were garrisoned there before moving
south to Ticonderoga, Bennington, and Saratoga? Any clue to Andreaus
Wienecke's military life would be appreciated. Bob Vinica
