Dear Denzil, this is very interesting, although I was unable to find
a "Hessian" listing for this name, I, and I am sure the subscribers
of this list as well, would like to learn from you where you found
this name registered. Where did you find it, and what is your own
connection to it?
I took the book "A History of Shenandoah County, Virginia, by John W.
Wayland, and looked for the name of Borden, and to my surprise found
that it is mentioned quite a few times, but not with this first name.
There is even a mentioning of a Borden Reunion in 1926 at Fishers Hill.
Borden, Benjamin, Nicholas, William, just a few of the names, also a
Borden railway station, a Borden Grant, Borden's schoolhouse, etc.
and to top it off, on page 233 is a "Heads of families list" of
Saumsville in 1785, which has the names Bordin, Frederick with 6 people
and 1 house, Bordin, Augustine, with 7 people and 1 house.
It would be interesting to learn if Reinhardt Heinrich Borden was
1.) a Hessian
2.) connected to these 1785 settlers of Saumsville,
We are looking forward to learn more about this, regards, John
