Subject: [HESSIANS] How to find a place in Germany
Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2001 19:19:33 -0500
Hello Hessian descendants:
Time and again I am being asked about a certain town, village,
or even bigger city, not only in the State of Hessen, but in every
corner of Germany, and everytime I answer - try this
http://www.meinestadt.de
This website is in German, but you don't have to feel intimitated,
much of it is easy understandable. Just use common sense, and
perhaps a small German/English dictionary (available for a few bucks)
would help.
Just last night I quoted www.meinestadt.de/Zierenberg
This one is in Hessen, but if you don't know in what State your
town is located, try the search feature (suchen) and type in the name.
Or click on the map on the State which you suspect to be the right
one. It sure will be a learning experience.
Have patience and have fun,
you known - doing Genealogy should be fun.
